8. Reading – kindness at work

Tekst ćwiczeniowy jest parafrazą tematu z działu o „kindness at work”. Odpowiadaj pełnymi zdaniami.

Kindness and difficult decisions

Many organisations want leaders to show kindness, empathy and respect. This can build trust and make employees feel safer at work. Small acts of kindness may also improve cooperation, reduce stress and encourage people to help one another.

However, kindness becomes complicated when managers must make difficult decisions. A manager may want to protect employees from unpleasant news, but avoiding honest feedback can damage the company and the team. If weak performance is ignored, other employees may lose trust in management.

Good leaders do not have to choose between kindness and success. They can make hard decisions while still treating people with empathy. The difficult part is finding the right balance: being supportive without avoiding responsibility.

1. What positive effects can kindness have at work?
Kindness can build trust, make employees feel safer, improve cooperation, reduce stress and encourage people to help one another.
2. When does kindness become complicated for managers?

3. Why can avoiding feedback damage a team?
